Privacy Policy
ExpectDad helps expecting fathers follow the pregnancy week by week and get ready for the birth. This policy explains what the app collects, why, who processes it, and how you can delete it.
What we collect
- Account details. Your email address and a user ID when you create an account. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the email address (or Apple's private relay address) and, if you choose to share it, your name.
- Pregnancy details you enter. The due date, symptoms and concerns you select, appointments, and your partner's first name.
- Things you write or save. Dad's Corner check-ins, money and leave notes, the questions and notes you add to an appointment, your care team's phone number, daily duties you complete, and gear you mark as bought or already owned.
- Usage events. Which screens and features are used, for example opening a week or tapping a product link. Events include the pregnancy week, and which gear you mark as bought or already owned, so we can see what helps at each stage. They never include your symptoms, concerns, check-in answers or notes, or your partner's name. They're tied to your account's internal ID (never your email or name) so we can see how the app is used over time.
- Diagnostics. Crash reports and short technical logs, such as when the app starts or a sign-in session begins or ends, so we can find and fix problems.
The contraction timer stays on your device and is never uploaded. The same goes for the short wellbeing check in Dad's Corner, if you take it: it is scored on your phone, only the date and two scores are kept there, and none of it is uploaded or sent to analytics.
We don't collect your location, contacts, photos or advertising identifier, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
How we use it
- To run the app: show the right week, plan daily duties, remember your progress and sync it across your devices.
- To send the reminders you turn on. Reminders are scheduled on your device.
- To understand which features help and fix what doesn't, using the usage events and diagnostics above.
We don't sell your data, use it for advertising, or share your pregnancy details with anyone.
Who processes it
- Google Firebase stores your account and app data (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, in the United States).
- PostHog receives usage events, crash reports and technical logs (United States). We've turned off PostHog's location lookup from IP addresses.
- Apple and Google handle Sign in with Apple and Google sign-in when you use them.
- Amazon. Gear links open Amazon with our Associates tag, so Amazon knows the visit came from ExpectDad. What you do on Amazon is covered by Amazon's privacy notice. We don't send Amazon any of your data.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while you have an account. In the app, go to Settings → Privacy & Data:
- Delete data erases your pregnancy details, check-ins, duties, appointments and gear progress but keeps your sign-in.
- Delete account erases all of that and your sign-in account. If you used Sign in with Apple, we also revoke the app's access to your Apple ID.
Deletion takes effect right away. Copies in Google's backups are removed on Google's normal backup schedule.
Both options also send us a request to delete your usage events and crash reports from PostHog. We act on it within 30 days, and PostHog then removes them in its weekly deletion run. Technical logs are deleted automatically within 30 days.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections. Your account data can only be read and written by your signed-in account.
Children
ExpectDad is for adults and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, or to object to some uses. Most of this is available in the app; for anything else, contact us below.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
